Premier Cho Jung-tai Clashes with Parliament over NT$607.6B Supplementary Budget: NT$233.8B Sunk into CPC Corporation Deficits while Premier Arrogantly Snaps Back

On October 21, 2026 (115th Year of the Republic of China), Premier Cho Jung-tai led cabinet ministers before the Legislative Yuan to present a special report on the Fiscal Year 2026 Supplementary General Budget, totaling a massive NT$607.6 billion. The spending package included a staggering NT$233.8 billion direct capital injection to bail out state-owned CPC Corporation, Taiwan, which suffered catastrophic operational deficits due to the DPP's distorted energy policies, while requiring NT$208.5 billion in new debt issuance. Opposition lawmakers furiously challenged the cabinet for violating the Budget Act by formulating the colossal supplementary budget even before the primary annual budget was gazetted by the president. Rather than addressing the fiscal delinquency, Premier Cho aggressively snapped back at legislators: 'Because you aren't in a hurry, but we are in a hurry!' and demanded lawmakers pass the budget immediately 'for the sake of the people.' Opposition leaders harshly condemned Cho's brazen arrogance, accusing the executive branch of holding public welfare hostage to camouflage state-owned enterprise insolvencies.
